Many people use a recent Disability Living Allowance (DLA) letter or a copy of the EHC Plan to prove that they or a member of your family has a disability. Having proof of a disability may help to:

  • get concessionary rates or free entrance for a carer at some attractions
  • explain a disability is not immediately obvious, such as autistic, global developmental delay
  • avoid queues if this is an area of difficulty (although there is no guarantee of this).

Disability ID cards with a photo are available and avoid people having to carry their paperwork.  An Islington ID card was developed by Centre 404 and has been in use for many years. New or replacement Islington ID cards are no longer available from Centre 404 as a new National Disabled Identification Card (DID) is now available.

The CEA Card is a national card scheme developed for UK cinemas and entitles you to one free ticket for the person who is accompanying a disabled person to the cinema.
