Newborn Hearing Screening, Audiology
The Camden and Islington arm of the Whittington Health Newborn Hearing Screening Team offer hearing screening to all babies born in the Whittington, Royal Free and the UCLH. Our aim is to screen all babies before they leave hospital. Home births and any baby missed as an inpatient who live in Islington or Camden will be offered a community screening appointment at the Northern Health Centre within the first 2 weeks after birth. Babies living in other boroughs will be seen at Health Centres locally to their home. It is very important that parents attend any offered community appointments for hearing screening as we only have four weeks in which to test babies. Babies not tested by four weeks may not be offered another hearing test until they are much older, this may be when your child attends school.
