Islington University of the Third Age

In the ten years since we established ourselves in 2013, Islington u3a has grown to 700 members – and our interest groups to 80.  Most of these take place in members’ homes, a few in various places in the borough.  We’re a registered charity run entirely by and for our members.  On the fourth Thursday of each month, we stage a Monthly Talk at Resource for London in Holloway Road. The speakers at these Talks are hugely respected and greatly anticipated.  And so is the free tea, coffee, cakes and chat that precede them. Current interest groups include 16 book groups, chess, Scrabble, bridge, table tennis, long and short walks, Tai chi, classic films, theatre, opera, drawing and painting on a ipad, French, Italian, German, philosophy, international affairs and sustainable living. Plus there are invitations to sociable coffee mornings, pub lunches, visits, a Summer Party and an IT clinic.

All for £25 a year - or £2.08 a month. What’s not to like?

Islington u3a is one of the 1,060 u3a’s in the UK and its members also have access to events organised by u3a nationally and by the London Region of u3a’s.
