Local Offer

How will you support my child?

Our setting welcomes children with SEND and we are committed to working with parents and other professionals to provide good inclusive practice. Our Islington link Area SENCO provides us with support, advice and training regarding children with SEND.

Our Senco has an Early Childhood Studies degree and training in Understanding Autism and Makaton. A high level of other staff members have completed a level 2 autism course and all staff have basic Makaton training which is provided within inhouse training days.

Key workers work closely with external professionals for guidance and support for individual children.

We welcome children with complex needs and ensure staff members will be sufficiently trained in the relevant area. Key workers are trained and gain understanding about the specific disabilities of each child.

We provide focussed activities for children with additional needs and language delay; providing a variety of language sessions with music and stories. These activities are repeated with simple words and objects to link learning and encourage speech and interactions.

The nursery is committed to working with any child who has a specific need and/or disability and makes reasonable adjustments to enable every child to make full use of the nursery's facilities. All children have a right to a broad and well-balanced early learning environment.

We work in partnership with a vareity of professionals such as Occupational Therapists,  Speech and Language therapists, ABA trained professionals, educational psychologists and our local area SENCO. We also work closely with parents, setting up strategies for effective partnership working.
