Low Vision Centre (RNIB)
This service is FREE.
The Optometrist and Rehabilitation Officer, working together, assesses your visual needs and current level of vision.
A Rehabilitation Officer will ask you how you are managing with your sight loss and will help you identify your main difficulties.
The Optometrist will thoroughly assess your sight and will determine if magnifiers or other low vision aids will help you carry out specific tasks. You would also be provided with training in the use of any low vision aid you are given.
The service is free of charge and the low vision aids are loaned for as long as they are of benefit.
Any resident of Islington or Camden, over 18 with a visual impairment that cannot further be corrected by glasses, contact lenses or medical treatment can be referred. An Optician, GP, Hospital, Social Services or other provider may refer you.
You should already have a diagnosis of your eye condition. We are a specialist low vision service and we do home visits for those unable to get out.
You can also contact us direct to discuss your suitability for the service by phone or email to low.vision@rnib.org.uk
Referrals from professionals should be emailed to: low.vision@nhs.net
