How will you support my child?

Our setting welcomes children with SEND and we are committed to working with parents and other professionals to provide good inclusive practice. Our Islington link Area SENCO provides us with support, advice and training re children with SEND.

Our SENDCO holds a degree in early childhood studies with 5 years’ experience of working with SEND. Our nursery manager has a great knowledge of the SEND code of practice and a combination of 17 years of experience in supporting children with SEND.

The nursery management team regularly attend SENCO meetings and training ensuring knowledge is up to date, cascading this knowledge to the wider nursery team ensuring a consistent approach in the setting.

Staff have regular allocated training and research projects and CPD to enable them to support individual targeted children and families.

Our staff have experience working and supporting children with varied abilities such as Speech and Language, Autism spectrum condition, Down’s Syndrome and children with hearing impairment.

We use various tools and strategies such as Asses, Plan, Do, Review speech and language groups to support each child and family whilst working closely with external agencies to work towards individual progress such as reaching milestones or developing an EHCP.

We work closely with external Speech and Language therapists, teachers to the deaf, and SEND triage and other external agencies when further support is required.
