Local Offer

How will you support my child?

Our setting welcomes children with SEND and we are committed to working with parents and other professionals to provide good inclusive practice. Our Islington link Area SENCO provides us with support, advice and training regarding children with SEND.

We identify, provide and support children who have special educational needs (SEN).  We work closely with local professionals to achieve a very high level  of support for those families who need it, ensuring families are involved and informed at every stage, providing them with information and sources of independent advice and support.

Our SENCO has been employed with us since 2011; she has degree level 6 in Early Childhood Studies, a Level 3 SENCO qualification, a Level 3 in understanding Autism, a Level 2 in Children’s mental health. She has attended training for Attention Autism and Crocodile groups for Speech and Language – which she carries out at our provision.

She has attended various training connected to her post including’ the SEND Code of Practice’,’ Understanding your DfE Statutory Requirements: Developing & Implementing Best Practice Methods in SEND Risk Assessment’, ‘Supporting children with special needs’, ‘SEND and working with parents’, ‘ Education, health and care plan (EHCP)’, ‘Strategic SENCO’, Sustained shared thinking and emotional well-being’, ‘Meeting needs of Bilingual Children’, ‘Paediatric First Aid Training ‘, ‘Makaton’, ‘Sign language’ and regularly attends SENCO Forums and conferences with the Local Area Senco’s discussing subjects such as; ‘Local Area SEND /and EY’s Ofsted inspection’ and ‘Outreach Services’.

All of our staff have accessed and continuously use MAKATON and visual aids with all the children. Our SENCO has worked with children with complex needs for 10 years; two of our staff have worked on paediatric units previously with children with a range of simple and complex needs and varying degrees of medical needs.
