Housing Aid Centre

If you have a housing problem, are homeless or are facing homelessness, please contact us for advice and support.

The Housing Aid Team is the starting point for advice and assistance on preventing or dealing with homelessness for eveyone (including 16 to 17 year olds). It offers advice on housing options to those in housing need in Islington including referrals to refuge; it runs the Home Shelter Scheme (additional security measures for survivors of domestic violence).

You can come to the centre in person, or alternatively, call 020 7527 2000. If you decide to come to the centre then it is advisable to come in the morning.

If you become homeless outside these hours due to an emergency, you can ring 020 7527 2000 (option 3, then option 4) to speak to Islington's homeless unit.

The Local Housing Allowance Project team works with the Housing Aid Team. Local Housing Allowance (LHA) is used to work out how much housing benefit people renting a property from a private landlord could be entitled to. In April 2011, LHA rates were capped. Many existing tenants have seen a reduction in the amount of LHA they receive and are unable to meet their rental obligations. The LHA Project team works closely with landlords and tenants to help prevent evictions and homelessness.
