Freedom from Torture

Freedom from Torture, formerly the 'Medical Foundation for the Care of Victims of Torture', has been working for 25 years to provide direct clinical services to survivors of torture who arrive in the UK as well as striving to protect and promote their rights.

Our charitable purpose (in brief) is to:

1. help survivors of torture to realise their right to as full rehabilitation as possible
2. ensure survivors receive effective protection and are not returned to their countries of origin to face the risk of further torture
3. ensure that States responsible for torture are held to account publicly and the human rights of survivors are guaranteed nationally and internationally
