The Maya Centre
Women's counselling centre (formerly Islington Women's Counselling Centre), offering free counselling, therapeutic groups and a culturally sensitive service to women who are in mental or emotional distress. The Centre runs projects to provide counselling for refugees and asylum-seekers, for Irish women, older women and women affected by domestic violence. Counselling is available in seven languages: English, Arabic, Somali, Farsi, Turkish, Spanish and Portuguese. The Centre also undertakes outreach and educational work on issues relating to women’s mental health.
The centre is currently coordinating the Dahlia Project, a support group for women who have undergone Female Genital Mutilation/Female Circumcision, FGM. For details, please use the links below.
