King Henry's Walk Respite Service

28A King Henry’s Walk provides respite support services for people with learning disabilities to give a break to families and carers. Short breaks and emergency breaks are both available in their 10 bed building. The service is regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and is currently rated as being ‘Good’ service in all areas. The service is open 24/7 and is fully staffed.

28A King Henry’s Walk work closely the Islington Learning Disability Partnership (ILDP) and the Transitions Team to Support a smooth pathway of support for young people transitioning from Children’s to Adult Services.

Types of Stays

  • Emergency Accommodation - emergency placements until a suitable move-on placement has been identified by the ILDP.
  • Short Breaks - overnight stays for the person using the services after returning from school or day services. Service users usually return to school or their day service the following morning.
  • Weekend and holiday stays – The provision of regular planned breaks is to enable people accessing the services to have fun through support with accessing the community, engaging in activities and enjoying new experiences which help to develop learning, independence and social skills.
