Children's Active Involvement Service, CAIS (Children's Social Care)

The Children's Active Involvement Service (CAIS) is for all children who have social workers, and those Looked After by Islington Children's Social Care and care leavers. This includes children in need, young people in children's homes and foster placements who live in Islington and also those placed in other London Boroughs or parts of the country. The service is here to listen to young people and make improvements on the basis of what they tell us it is like to be looked after by Islington. We have a range of activities including a newsletter, helping to select and train staff, and giving presentations to senior staff and councillors. We also have fun events such as drama and dance from time to time. CAIS can also tell you how to get the support of an advocate if you are not happy about anything to do with your placement, your carer or your social worker. CAIS can also tell you how to make a complaint. Young people have a big say in how CAIS works and in some cases young people are rewarded for giving up their time to help CAIS.
